What we never do, in writing

The rules WC3 Map Doctor follows for every map and every request, what this website collects, and the basic terms. Last updated 2026-10-20.

What we never do

  • Unprotect, deprotect or deobfuscate a map. A protected map is reported as protected and skipped.
  • Regenerate editor data an author removed. If an author stripped the trigger or unit data the World Editor needs, we do not rebuild it.
  • Add cheats, cheat packs or map hacks, or remove anti-cheat. Cheat and malware patterns are reported, never added and never stripped for you.
  • Strip or change credits. Author names, loading screens and credits stay as they are.
  • Make a map less protected than it was. Archive header fields we touch while working are restored byte for byte in the copy.
  • Change your original file. Every operation writes a new copy and checks that the input is unchanged.

Protected maps

We do play-side fixes on a protected map only when its archive can be read without unlocking anything. If it cannot, the request is closed as "Declined: protected". There is no exception for anyone, including people who say they have permission.

Authors: consent and opting out

A fixed copy of a map is posted publicly only when the requester is the author or the author agreed. When the author is unknown we publish the report and let each player fix their own copy.

If you made a map and do not want it fixed or discussed by us, message the moderators on the Discord. We add it to an opt-out list and close any open request for it.

Privacy on this website

  • No accounts and no sign-in. This site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics, ads or trackers. Fonts are served from this site.
  • There are no forms yet. When the request form opens, what you type there (map name, link, version, patch, tags, details, display name) will be posted publicly in our Discord forum as your request.
  • When the request form opens, the request page will load Cloudflare Turnstile to keep bots out. It will be the only third-party script on the site, loaded only on that page.
  • Your theme choice and the findings density are saved in your own browser (local storage) and never sent anywhere.
  • The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes the technical data any web request carries, such as your IP address, to deliver and protect the site; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
  • Links to Discord take you to Discord, where Discord's own policies apply.

Uploads

Map uploads are not open yet; today requests link to the map's page on Discord. When uploads open, a map file sent with a request will go to private storage that only the WC3 Map Doctor team can read, never be posted publicly, and be used only to work on that request. Instant self-serve scans are not open yet; before they open we will publish here how long scanned maps are kept and who can see a report.

Terms, briefly

  • Reports are automated findings. They can be wrong or incomplete, and every report says what it did not check.
  • Keep your own backups. Use fixed copies at your own risk; the service is provided as is, without warranty.
  • Only send maps you have the right to work with, and respect each author's licence.
  • We can decline any request, including ones the rules above do not name.
